Kuching Part X : Porky Delights

Last but not least, I round up the rest of Kuching's Porky Delights!

Sio Bee (Off the shelf)

100% pork filling! Hot seller everywhere! We actually got sad when they ran out of it, and we also tapau-ed some on our last day in Kuching and ate it before leaving to the airport =(

Sio Bee (Variant)

Pork Rice

Juicy, tender, colorful... PORK!!

Char Kuay Teow

Even the standard Char Kuay Teow is loaded with pork! sweet pork slices... lard... pork chunks... *drool* =)

Okay, I don't know what is this called, but I'll call it the "Pork Stuffed Sesame Bun". This is a melt in your mouth special.. Small, cute sesame buns with pork and lard stew stuffed inside. I could have eaten 10 of those things!

Kuching was really enjoyable.. The culture, the people, the natural wonders, the way of life, and not forgetting the food.. Ideally you need 3 weeks to fully enjoy what this state has to offer =)

Till then I'll leave you with this close up... *drooooollll* I tell you!! *drooooollll*

Kuching Part IX : Har Kau

Back on the pork trail.. Har Kau!!! Freshly minced prawns and pork wrapped in a white skin.. Order in bulks!!! Because they will finish before your eyes =) Fresh prawns are the secret to most of Kuching's good tasting food. And Har Kau is one such example.

Kuching Part VIII : Fried Fern

This was one experience... Fried Paku Pakis?!!

I haven't eaten fern before.. But it looked green and edible.. So what the hell.. Tasted like a normal vegetable.. More like a crossbreed of asparagus and french beans.. Not bad.. A new vegetable to eat! =)

Kuching Part VII : Kuching Laksa

In the Peninsula its called Curry Mee, in Kuching its called Sarawak Laksa! But importantly it taste good! For a bowl priced around RM3, you get an abundance of ingredients from very fresh prawns, to chicken and pork slices, beansprout, egg, etc. Importantly the broth is of the right blend, spicy and not sugarish =)

Kuching Part VI : Metahon

Another killer Sarawak dessert !! Metahon !!

Reminiscence of the peninsula's cendol but you'll find that the coconut milk, 'kacang merah', corn, and 'gula melaka' has been replaced with lime, slices of pineapple and lycee, and a generous amount of sweet and sour concoction of shaven ice. The green jelly although similar to the peninsula's version actually looks and taste more artificial, but has a chewy zing to it.

Kuching's version of ABC also has its own twists of lime and jello. Sarawak desserts seem to have SOUR as their middle name =)

Anyways..

On any hot and humid day..

One metahon saves the day..

Man its a lifesaver!
